Simple Man
By PBzeer at 2006-02-25 01:45

Tom Petty had it right when he sang.....the waiting is the hardest part. Still, it is a part of the journey, and there may yet be discoveries to make ere I cast off the docklines.

There's definitely a liberating sense of freedom leaving the work-a-day world. Not just that my time is now my own, but the fruit of my labors as well. The satisfaction of a good day's sail, finding a wonderful anchorage, watching a full moon rise above the water....little things that feed the soul and spirit. Lord knows, not every day will be perfect, but at least I'll have some say in how it goes. And that's enough to ask for.

So much, waiting to be discovered. Some expected, some not expected, yet, out there, waiting to be found. In many ways, I am fortunate to be where I am in life, for it affords me this opportunity to go forth with an open mind and heart upon a Sea of Dreams. It's as if the past was but prologue, to all yet to come. For on a boat, you only take what you need, and leave the rest behind. It seems so simple, yet I know it's not. But still, it is our choice how simple or complicated we make our lives. And I have yet to meet someone who doesn't find the greatest satisfaction in the simple things of life.

John
