On additional comment after 2.5 years of use. While stepping and unstepping the mast is relatively easy, I have had to buy a rivet gun and a couple of spreaders. When stepping the mast, make sure the spreaders are in proper position, or they will bend and possibly break. This year I will begin dry-mooring the boat at the lake, so I can leave the mast up all year. Other than wear and tear from stepping the mast, all other areas have held up wonderfully. I've only had to replace one spreader, but have had to re-seat the spreader brackets on the mast after worked loose. I would recommend carrying a spare spreader if you frequently trailer to the lake. Eventually, one will break with repeated up and down use. Overall, am VERY happy with the boat and would up my previous rating to a "9".

This is our first entry level fixed keel sailboat, post flying scot trailer sailor. yanmar diesel has been reliable and a good stepping stone to larger boat in 5 years. we currently sail on Lake Erie and find it fine for just the 2 of us overnight, or 4 people for a day sail. Been out in 4-6 foot chop and 25+ gusts close hauled and she heeled to 30 degrees and locked right there...felt strong and safe. We have wheel steering and is very responsive.

Great boat at $14,000.00, which is basically $1000.00 more than the previous owners paid in 2008 just for the new engine, Then, they only put 18 hours on the brand new engine.

I wrote that review six years ago and still own the boat. I guess I love the boat. 16 years, where did the time go? Great pocket ocean racer!

I own a starcraft Skylark 14' and have sailed it a few times, but due to the previous owners changes to the tiller, the tiller/rudder are in need of replacement or repair. Any info on this boat would be appreciated, Thanks
