I have Mistral 76 built in 1971. I am now restoring the cockpit coaming. I have built a fibreglass mold for the aft section which will be used for laying up a new laminated aft section. On completion, I will offer the mold for sale to other owners with this problem, Any one interested please contact p995500@aol.com.

The Bristol Sailstar 24 is a superlative sailboat for single-handing or a young family cruise anywhere on the East Coast or Bahamas. With appropriate gear and experience, there is no reason not to take her off-shore. She will outlast you in rough conditions. With the exception of a Com-Pac 16 for a decade (and now in trust for my grandson), I've cruised my Sailstar 24 for many years - Maine to the Keys and Bahamas. In sum, best boat of her size for cruising.

Follow up We've now owned the boat for 8 years and have enjoyed it thoroughly. We have done upgrades on a regular basis, summary below. Dodger Radar (on stern post and display at helm) Upgraded batteries to 4x 6V T105s + starter batt Headsail Furler Newer sails (modified J-105 used) Dyneema backstay, replaced all standing rigging Removed 'treadmaster cockpit non skid' and repainted sole Added macerator Engine: New mixing elbow New exchanger bundle (sprang a leak) injectors serviced/rebuilt upgraded alternator The hull flex did raise it's ugly head to the extent that I became concerned. This past fall (2012) we removed all the settee furniture, tanks, etc and rebuilt the entire floor grid. Details here: http://www.sailnet.com/forums/gear-maintenance/93596-stringer-floors-rebuild-diy.html Please with the results so far. Still love the boat's layout, cockpit area is still a limitation, love the fit and finish below.

We purchased our 32-200 almost two years ago and have been extremely happy with her! She is in great shape for a 22 year old vessel and draws a lot of compliments for other sailors. The cockpit is large enough for six adults but it gets a little crowded with that many unless they are acting as crew. The cabin is very nice with teak everywhere, a large aft captain's cabin and aft head. The main salon is roomy but we removed our table as well since we usually eat at the fold down table in the cockpit. The ice box is large as is the port galley. The v-berth is roomy and will sleep two adults comfortably. The boat sails well in light air with a 135 genoa. The Universal mxp 25 is very reliable but the stock Hurth transmissions are garbage. We had to replace ours but all is well now.

We extended our V berth by removing the cabin door and installing an infill right back to the door jam. Having the tiller version, we also have two large cockpit infills and here in the tropics, use them on a regular basis to convert the cockpit into a large queensize berth when at anchor.

Phenomenal boat for what I paid for it. Tons of room for a cruising couple and tons of amenities. Came with a decent main and new furling headsail, autohelm st4000 was broken but look on eBay these are cheap to replace and work nearly as well as new models. I paid 700 for a refurbished complete system and in less than 30 minutes had it up and running since an old st4000 was already in place. Easy boat to maintain, engine well accessible, mast shroud chain plates not so much, huge head, smaller vberth, the double berth with the table removed is pretty awesome. I am 6'1, 250 lbs and this the perfect size boat for me. Only thing I want different is a traveler and mainsheet I can trim at the helm while underway. As is the traveler doesn't get used much short-handed. Cockpit seems to fit 6 comfortably and 8 passangers seems the magic number before I feel cramped. Pretty sweet boat if you have cruising dreams and want to be competitive in your local phrf fleet. You won't find used sails that fit the boat perfectly, however.

Have owned My Irwin for 14 years and sailed many miles in all conditions. Single handed from Lake Ontario, Canada to the Caribbean, 3500 miles, cruised for 6 years & then my wife helped sail back to Florida, 2000 miles. Nothing I don't know about this Irwin. Have spent much in upgrades for Wind Gennie, Solar Panels, Auto Pilot, Radar, ground tackle and now preparing to spend on Sail Stack Pack, Air Conditioning, New Frig, Salon Cushions & State Room Mattresses. I don't intend selling any time soon. Phantom 'D'

Since 1997 we have owned a 1998 Beneteau 352, the nearly identical successor to the 351. The differences are mainly cosmetic, especially in the interior cabinetry which features arched cabinet doors with caned inserts - very classy! Also, the 352 has a Yanmar 3GM30 while the 351, I believe, has a Perkins. Both have the same hull & topside. We have used it in the Upper Chesapeake for 5 seasons (1700 nautical miles) with great satisfaction. It sails well to weather even with the furling main, and is easy to back into a tight slip once you get the hang of it. It was a great experience for our first cruising boat. We have been out in 28 knots and after furling sails she handled it well - better than the humans!
