In 1979 Robert Perry redesigned the Mirage 26 with a reverse transom and an inboard rudder and renamed it the Mirage 27.
Roomy for her length with traditional interior.
Nicely balanced under sail.
Jib sheet winches were upgraded for easier sail trimming.
Perfect boat for us, cruising Lake Ontario in the summer.

I have found the 27 to be more than adequate for my uses. It is reasonably fast, very manouevrable forward and astern, and a reasonably forgiving design. Good engine space access and excellent wiring provision-ideal first time boat for a DIY'er, but a bit small for a larger family. A much better buy than my first (Westerly Centaur)!
