Pros:
Cons:

The Morgan 43 is a Nelson-Marek design built under the new (in 1985) ownership of Catalina Yachts. It is a center cockpit, sloop rig with clean lines and a surprisingly nice turn of speed. Its rig is exceptionally beefy and the construction and fit is average to above average. The interior is well laid out with lots of storage, a dedicated true nav station, work bench and storage across from the engine room, relatively large engine room, spacious aft cabin and head. Complaints are few and minor - access to the water tanks is difficult to impossible; the fuel tank is small for any real distance cruising; the ice box backs to the engine room, though is otherwise well insulated; the boat digs in quickly when grounded, though her greater weight relative to other, smaller boats I've owned may be the difference. Overall, my wife and I simply adore the boat. We have on a few occasions been forced to sail her off the anchor or into her slip in extremely tight quarters and she responds like a boat much smaller than her 43 feet. Best of all, they are the most affordable mid-40' boat on the market!

Pros:
Cons:

My Morgan 43 is a fast light are cruiser with a strong windward ability. But more than transportation, she's a comfortable, enviting home afloat here in Washington DC.

Boasting a large main cabin, full size bunks and two heads (the aft head with a tub/shower combination, a real nav station that doubles as a home office and a real engine room, the Morgan 43 is an excellent combination of sailing ability and living volume.

With an ICW legal mast height, albeit just legal, there's a world of off-shore and near-shore destinations within her reach.

She responds well under power and sail, easily moved at 7 knots + with only 3/4 gal of fuel per hour. Her movements under sail are equally easy.

A great boat for crusing, living and enjoying!

Pros:
Cons:

I have lived aboard my Morgan 43, Center cockpit sloop for 3 years. She is extremely comfortable, spacious and after adding custom lockers to make her more user-friendly, more than adequate for a seagoing home. This model does not offer the bath tub in the owner´s head thereby offering valuable additional space in the engine room. We wouldn´t have used the tub anyway. She was built strong, both rig and hull and her underbody makes her extremely kindly in any kind of seaway. All in all, having sailed her extensively, we are quite happy with her performance.
