Built by Ouyang Boat Works in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. A great lake boat but not a long range cruiser. The walk thru transom is wonderful. The boat has a very large fractional rig and is a great racer. Lots of accomodation crammed into 30' although the aft double quarter berth is a little cramped at the foot end if you're big like me (6'1").
Two things to watch for:
1) The barrel bolts that anchor the chainplates from the shrouds to the hull were poorly designed and installed. We had longer bolts made so that the threads went all the way through (If you open the lockers behind the setees you will see what I mean).
2) The original coffee-can type wet exhaust can, under certain conditions, allow water back up to the exhaust of the engine causing hard starting problems and potential damage from hydraulicking (sp?). Replace the muffler assembly with a Vetus waterlock as low and as close to the engine as possible.
She has an oversized rig which makes her great in light air but be ready to reef the main very early (she goes faster upright than on her ear anyway). We added a 600 pound bulb to our keel which really made her stand up and fly. I would highly recommend it.
Other than these points she's a fast, fun, weekend/short holiday boat for a couple with kids or two close couples and she's a looker.

I have hull number 12, Odyssey 30, which was launched in 1995. The mast is 2 feet less than standard and the boom is 2 feet longer. This gives a lower center of pressure and the boat is very much stiffer. The weight distribution below is different and this brings the boat onto plane very quickly in higher wind speeds (9-10kts in 20+kts of wind). At this speed the boat is well under control with the big spade ruder.
The boat, loaded weight at 8,800lbs, has a Pentax Race main and a Kevlar 150 Genoa, no reefs until 25kts apparent, approx 620 square feet. With the gennaker and main the sail area is just under 1,000sqft. Also in lighter air the boat performs well. I find it a good all round boat that is good for cruising and also racing.
I don't have the barrel bolts, so don't have that problem.
I have a Vetus waterlock so have not had any problems with the exhaust.
The accomodation in a 30 footer is more than adequate for 2 for cruising and easilly handles 4-5 on distance races.
