The PENGUIN is a venerable one-design dingy that has a loyal
and faithful following of men and women who learned to sail on
this very responsive, high tech masterpiece that was designed
and built in the 20s-30s. I believe that the #1 Penguin is
located at the St. Michaels Maryland Maritime Museum. Built
in both wood and now fiberglass (yuch) this great boat is being
built by novices at the Gardiner School, Annapolis, I've seen
their work and it does my heart good to see a new wood Penguin
being crafted. The boat was first very popular in the New Jersey
area, and built by Horner and McCulloch. It was and is a favorite
frostbiter, and is still and raced by many parent/child crews.

Absolute truism "If you know how to sail a Penguin you can sail
a 40 footer, however, being able to sail a 40footer is no guarantee
you can sail a Penguin" The International Penguin Class Dingy Association
has a web site http://home.dmv.com/~jenkins/ visit, buy, race
enjoy the best of breeze and water, for under a grand.
