Classic Sparkman and Stephens design, lovely lines, unique in our marina, very stable, strong, wood spars. Hull was built in the days of "over-building". Great for gunk-holing (2.5 board up/5.0 cb down)in southern N.E. where we live. Have cruised with wife for a week. Large cockpit for day-sailing yet has V-berths and the potential for quarterberths (often used for storage). Outboard in lazarette needs special venting of exhaust (yet plenty of room for 8 gals. of fuel). We solved exhaust problem by putting a plastic pipe on the upper exhaust port of the engine. Needs some air to sail. Stable to windward but again needs wind to really point. Hull speed max. is about 5K. Refurbishable and holds paint well. Have owned and sailed for 8 years. Very satisfied. Perfect for single-handing, taking a four person party on a daysail. Very tight/camping style for cruising.

Great Starter Boat, Sails well with nice lines. Good boat for restoration. Check for floating encapsilated keel, blisters and centerboard condition. The topsides hold paint well. Every aspect of this boat lives up to S+S quality and design. Shoal draft beaches well and tracks well without lowering board. Gets a bit tender in a puff so a good traveler set up is a must to dump the breeze. This boat was allowed to sail with a 170% genny under old MORC rules its rating is 17.8. CCA rating is 15.6 and PHRF rating is 296.
