This boat is a sloop and set up for racing and single handed sailing. I have 8 bags of sails two of which are mylar genoas. It is powered by a Honda 75 four stroke outboard and is miserly on fuel. A good thing since I only have a 10 gallon fuel tank.Don't know much about it's strengths and weaknesses yet, I've only had it since March of 1998. I can tell you that I am living aboard it and have been since I purchased it. I am very much interested in going off shore cruising in this boat. As for overall satisfaction ... I couldn't be happier! I would like to be in touch with other owners or individuals/brokers/etc. who would have any information(printed or otherwise) about this boat. I would like to learn everything about it's origin, and especially any information from anyone who has actually gone cruising in this boat. Fair winds and Happy Sailing!

I have built a website for San Juan 7.7's and 26's, containing manuals, brochures, and reviews. I'm seeking additional photos of either boat for inclusion. Feel free to stop by.

I have had my 7.7 for three years here in WA, sailing on Puget Sound.
She is a very forgiving boat and built stout. Easy to sail and a joy to own. Large cockpit compared to other boats in her class. Very beamy as well, with plenty of head room below. Built as a cruiser/racer with fraction rig, and as I said - built stout. Would love to correspond with other 7.7 owners or San Juan owners for that matter.
