1983 San Juan 34 (Clark) is sailed on insland lakes only. I have had her in Mobile for the Dauphin Island Race where she came in second in class. this boat was well ahead of her time. the lay out is classic with forward vee berth which is long enough for my wife and myself (both at 6'), the head a little cramped for showering but not bad. she is foam cored with rod rigging, standing 49'6" so great for intecostal work. drawing six feet she is a bit deep on the gulf coast if you dont watch yourself. this boat is bullet proof. very fast, with a 130 phrf, rod rigged quick to helm. many of the 34's were racers with pipe berths, mine is a cruiser class. email me with comments, i am looking for other san jaun 34 sailors for discusson.

A somewhat lesser known sailing vessel means good value when purchasing. This is a well designed, great sailing boat. I have raced on another 34 for 2 years and liked it so much I had to have one for myself. The one I raced on consistantly came in 1st place throughout the race season. I can't wait to find out how I will fair on mine. Formally the 34 known as "Big Juan".

I own a 1982 hull named "Big Juan" and sail and race her in the Albemarle Sound area of NC. A great sailing boat capable of sailing consistantly to her PHRF handicap. Reasonable interior. You get one of these boats as a Club racing terror, maybe a week long cruise. Exceptional upwind, need spinnaker and hot angles downwind. Bought the boat dismasted, re rigged with larger diameter mast, wire standing rigging. Omar technora large roach main and jib, Airforce pentex triradial 135 genoa, North dacron 155 genoa, Airforce symmetrical spinnaker. Hull and keel professionally faired. Shoal draft 5'4". Boat was owned and built for Mr. Clark himself in New Bern, NC.
