My boat is fitted with the standard furling main and is the shoal draft ( 4 ft. 3 in. draft) model. The shoal draft keel is lead whereas the standard full keel is cast iron. The boat sails well and is easy to handle. It is not a light boat but moves along nicely with carefull trimming in light air. Once winds exceed 10 knots the boat moves very well. In higher winds the limitless reefing ability of the main becomes a big benefit. The boat balances well in high winds with a small main setting and a little more foresail. Initial concerns about possible drawbacks of the roller furling main have been displaced by finding the convenience and greater trimming range more than offset a small loss in sail area. Under power the 27 hp Westerbeke is very responsive and drives the boat well. I am very happy with my purchase.

I bought my Beneteau 331 new in December 2001 and was surprised at the number of minor and not so minor problems that presented themselves. Things like a weak handrail in the cockpit, VHF radio not working properly etc. But my main complaint is the lack of dealer response to these problems. I have been discussing one issue a broken settee back (port side) with the dealer and factory for over six months. After numerous calls and a letter from my lawyer, the factory agreed to fix the settee back, that was three months ago and I am still waiting for the dealer or another arranged by the factory repair person to respond.
I like my boat, but am very unhappy with the dealer's response to problems.

My best investment. The dealer was great and so is the boat. plenty of room, the kids really enjoy boating with the 331.
