Initially I started looking at 40ft concrete and then steel ketches - but was soon put off after viewing 200+ boats over 2 years. I settled for a 38ft Aluminium (Aluminum for you 'States-Side)Bermudan Cutter and after 3.5 years living aboard and sailing over 4000 miles around the shallow Caribbean - I have not one single regret or complaint and would recommend a similar Aluminium boat to anyone with a reasonable budget. Although mine is now for sale (upgrading - and I doubt if I could find a similar contructed Cat' at twice the price!!) If I am unable to sell it, I have no problem living and maintaining for the years to come. The boat has survived 4 tropical storms and hurricanes 'Floyd' and Michelle' in Abaco, Bahamas. I have so much to say - e-mail me on if I can answer your questions.
