Pros:
Cons:

I have owned this boat for 22 years and found it to be extremly well built and to sail well in all conditions. Most people who see it think it looks like an Islander but wonder how it can be so new. Te only work required has been a new mainsail, a new head and a new stove. No other effort has been required beyond normal maintenance such as Waxing, teak finishing, and oil changing. It still is a joy to sail with the balanced spade rudder requiring little effort, and a source of pride whenever anyone asks to see it. We plan to move to a larger boat and hope we can afford one that will give half as good service as our Sun 27.

Pros:
Cons:

I have a Sun 27 1978 model and would like to share information on any modifications done to make this sturdy roomy boat better. I have added over the last 6 years a bow roller, wood heater, origo alcohol stove, ( I have a big oven model for sale too big for my 27), Glass windscreen (I live in the rainy NW B.C.), I would like to add some lightening protection which was an option at the time. I have a very reliable Yanmar 15hp 2 cyl diesal (2QM15) that likes to have its zincs, impellor, theromostat checked regularly. I would like to strengthen the attachment points for the shrouds in the cabin. (washers changed to a solid stainless plate). I have added a 10 gat holding tank that fits nicely under the starboard side of the v berth with a gusher bilge pump under the sink in the head. I have a Campbell prop that drives the boat at about 6+ knots works great. More later

Pros: Lots of room, very comfortable, big for a 27.5
Cons: none known

I can do 6 knots, sails very nicely. The boat has a very comfy v-berth for extended stays. There is a nicely equipped galley w a 3 burner propane stove, propane heater, and a sink. There is a head on board with a holding tank. Seating area is good, storage under the seats. Quarter berth, I have a 10 gallon fuel tank for my yamaha 9.9 outboard. I have a 20 gal water tank under the v-berth. Lazarettes hold lots of storage. Highly recommended boat.
