It appear as though the company that provides our Chat feature recently updated their software and now one of their modules is being 'mis-classified' by Norton/Symantec and possible containing a virus. Until they have this resolved we have de-activaed chat. We've opened a support incident with Envolve and they will hopefully have this corrected soon.

17' performance daysailer designed in the mid forties by Gordon 'Sandy' Douglas and built as a strict one-design. Unique look with unusual plumb (vertical) bow and no deck. (just a little wooden grating near the stern and at the base of the mast). Excellent handling, very fast and stable for it's speed. Designed to be raced with a crew of three, but I mostly daysail/weekend singlehanded with it. With just me aboard, I have to reef early. I've owned mine for eight or nine years and have sailed it mostly in Lake Erie (have crossed to Canada in it). Also sailed it in Georgian Bay (Lake Huron) for a week.

The most common complaint I know of concerning them is that the middle and forward crew tend to bang up shins on the centerboard trunk when racing. (as the skipper, I don't suffer from this minor drawback....*laugh*). (I've crewed on them too, and it isn't too bad.) Overall great boat for daysailing and racing and real nice folks in the class association (web page @ www.thistleclass.com) Descent boats can be had for about a thousand, but one in competitive condition for racing will likely run more.
