This beautiful Robert Perry designed, full keel, canoe stern, blue water cruiser is strongly built and beautifully finished. Because of it's heavy displacement, (22,000 lbs) it is sluggish in light airs but handles beautifully in winds over 15 knots. Despite its full keel, it points well and it is quite stable in a stiff breeze. Its greatest weakness seems to lie in the electrical system.
Overall, I highly recommend this boat and would be happy to provide more detail information on request.

The Union 36 is heavily built and capable of world cruising. The sailplan helps offset the heavy displacement. With volumes of storage and tankage the boat can be equipped for extended cruises. The exterior teak adds to the maintenance, while the teak interior makes the boat seem warm and inviting. I would recommend this boat to anyone looking for a serious bluewater boat.

Pros:
|
Stable, comfortable, affordable, safe, well designed.

Cons:
|
The teak deck in most requires replacement - it will leak.

It's beautiful, and you can depend on it when the wind blows.
Same boat as the Hans Christian 34 & 36, and nearly identical to the Hans Christian 38 - for good reason, she was designed by Robert Perry and commissioned by the person who started Hans Christian Yachts. If you like the HC Yachts you will love this boat. Extremely well designed with terrific craftmanship on display. Lots of Teak, Brass and all the things that make a boat a classic. It will hove to easily and give you a safe haven in a blow.
