Pros:
Cons:

Designed for offshore, bluewater cruising. Very well built and quite fast (excellent acceleration), but still with plently of room down below. Uses a Volvo saildrive. At present, very satisfied with the performance and comfort.

Pros:
Cons:

Sailed around the world 1991-1995. Excellent boat for family of 3. Very fast for her size. Solid lead keel big plus for reef navigating. Tall rig was great for light air. Volvo 2003 engine would serve better as an anchor, cause it sure didn't work well as an engine. But overall very very happy with her performance over 4.5 years.

Pros: Reputation, Construction, Design
Cons:

I just bought a 1985 Pretorien in great shape in New Hampshire and will be taking to a yard for a through examination and refit where needed. I was curous as to why there are no seacocks on the gtransom mounted throughhulls (Exhaust and Bilge pumps), and will install them. Also, the forward and port side fresh water tanks are "suspended" from the furniture railings/stringers which does not see best practice, evne thought they are solidly connected. Not sure i'd be happy in a roll-over. I may all pads and strapping. I'd love to stay in touch with other Pretorien owners. Fair Winds!

Pros:
Cons:

After 7 years and 5 trips between MD and ME, have few complaints. Easy motion and fairly quick. Wide beam and deep, heavy ballast make for an upright sailing attitude. Baby stay and running backs need to be used above 20kts. Construction is good, although propeller strut needed to be reglassed when it came loose. Models with saildrives obviously don't have this problem. Interior wood and glass are nicely finished.
