The X99 is a great sporty racer/cruiser, built by X-yachts, it is one of the most sucessful yachts of it's size with 600 plus boats made.
It comes with a 10hp saildrive, which isn't really that powerful for cruising purposes, but is just right for puttering in and out of the basin for races. I am actually upgrading the engine into a 20hp for cruising.
The sail rig is great, a powerful main and a Genoa which is carried usually until about 18 knots when racing. Fractional rig with running backstays makes them a bit of a hassle to single hand, but it is doable. I tend to prefer to sail her with 3, but in race mode 7 is ideal. In the right conditions (moderate to strong winds and a bit of chop) the X99 is always ready to start surfing.
Accomodations is not that great, more than spartan but not really luxurious. With the head located infront in the V birth.
I would compare the X99 to a small sedan with a 200hp engine, enough room for the family but can give you a lot of speed when needed.
