Description: I've had a 1988 Countess 33CC for almost a year now, having restored her to sailing shape over the winter and sailed most of a season in Holland. As noted in other forums, the biggest advantages are interior layout and room, robust hull design and construction, and normal fitting of a larger motor (40 hp range). It is on the heavy side and not a light air boat, but very secure and managable in heavy weather. As most Colvics were finished out by individuals or small yards, the quality varies significantly from boat-to-boat. If you are looking for a comfortable sea-worthy cruiser, forgiving and easy to single- or short-hand, that may not have a luxury fit-out but will be well priced, this is a very good choice.
