I've owned the Baltic 37 "Brut" for three years, racing her in local regattas as well as cruising with family and friends. I have also sailed against and corresponded with several other owners, it is a select and helpful community.
The boat is still a terrific medium and long distance offshore racer, built like a tank and able to handle weather and heavy seas. She also does very well in light air, as the IOR design has less wetted surface than broad-transom (big-assed) modern designs, and the oversized genoas and masthead kites earn their keep. The weakest area is running in heavy wind, where the IOR hull can be difficult to control. Round the cans racing is a challenge but can be satisfying if well executed.
The interior, like all Baltics, is warm, woody, and very well crafted. Bunks are snug, but the old-style pilot berths with lee cloths are a godsend on long passages.
A wonderful boat with great lines, heritage, and a good combination of performance and comfort.
Chris
