Pros:
Cons:

This Cal 25 II is not the flat-top design of the early 25's. It's a pocket cruiser similar to an Ericson 25. I have the outboard version; some were offered with diesel power.

It's an excellent weekender and two people can comfortably spend a week on her. Her 6' headroom is a big benefit. The interior, although dated in design is well-constructed and attractive. She's 9'6" at the beam so there's plenty of room aboard. In fact, her hull is almost identical to the Cal 27. The fin-keel, spade rudder design gives good performance. She's also built to a much higher standard than contemporary 25-footers. She's also small and simple enough that she can easily be single-handed.

The biggest disadvantage to her is that the hull configuration isn't ideal for long passages in rough weather. She'll want to spin on the keel in a strong wind unless she's reefed down. In fact, my "normal" sail plan for 12-18 kt winds is a reefed main and 130 genoa. Her broad beam also causes a bit of pounding in choppy seas.

I've owned mine for 12 years and find her the ideal small cruiser.

Pros:
Cons:

Had this boat about a year now and like it pretty well. Handles most conditions up to 20 knots easily and 3 to 4 foot swells are no problem. Had alot of issues with deck leaks due to the previous owners lack of maitenance however much of this is under coltroll now. The keel required a rather extensive repair to the aft section due to water entering the cavity from above but this was fixed with much west system epoxy and glass and has held up fine.
Overall the boat sails nicely and accelerates rather quickly with a good breeze. All lines led aft makes for easy handeling, with the exception of the original headfoil, which stinks because the sails never hoist easily unless sprayed with sailkote just before use. I would replace it except that would obsolete six headsails and the loss would be too much to justify.
I would definitely recomend this boat for anyone who wants a well made smaller boat that can be easily handled alone or with a small crew.

Pros: I like the boats lines.
Cons:

I just got the sailboat for 300.00 (gotta love on-line auctions), the hull is fair, the rigging serviceable, sails really decent, the insides a mess (soap and water does wonders). If anyone can help I am looking for pictures, specs anything to help me restore this beauty to the water.
