Pros:
Cons:

40 ft boat, built by Jensen Marine, Desingned for off wind sailing, 150 jenny 100 % head rig. SAtill winning vic/maui races. Only weakness is that shes getting older. Have owned my cal 40 for 20 yrs and would not sell her for any amount of $.

I've owned the boat since 1980. I guess that pretty well answers the question of overall satisfaction. We have an active fleet (50 dues-paying members) here in the Los Angeles area. There are seven 40's parked along one walk-way at the Los Angeles Yacht Club. 8-10 of us race class with each other on a somewhat regular basis, so performance is generally considered as we work with our boats. Several of the boats are in as-new condition. The racers have the latest kevlar-mylar-spectra-Harken gear. The cruisers have added refrigeration and roller-furling, but most have retained the original configurations.
We are the California-Classic.
