I sail on SF bay and this is a good boat for the bay that can be trailered to other places aswell. My is the deep keel (3.5ft draft), a wing keel would be easer to launch, but the deep keel is perfect for the bay.

The Cal22 is a very versitale racer/cruiser. She has a modern design and the cabin is very roomy. She sleeps four and includes, sink, head and icebox. I have added equipment and made some modifications to make her more competitive and easier to handle in racing situations. She has won a number of local races. I also believe these modifications have made the boat much safer in heavy weather. I also had to reinforce the rudder as the production version was inadequate.

I sail my cal22 on a inland lake in Ga. The boat holds up very well in moderate winds. I have never slept on the boat but it would sleep up to 4 people. It is a good solid boat and handles very well.

I have truely enjoyed my experiences aboard my Cal. The sail plan is just right to make the boat sail in light air and be able to reef down to handle heavy air. I was very impressed with the relative ease of sailing her in 25 knot winds and 3-5 foot seas. Below decks offers a cozy, yet roomy atmosphere, even with a full crew. I have recently moved up to a larger boat for extended cruising, but I will miss my Cal 22. She was a very fun boat to sail.
