Pros:
Cons:

30' light displacement sport boat manufactured by Catalina. Very fast, very strong. Suitable for weekending and limited cruising. One of the best sailing boats I've ever sailed because of it's speed, balance, and stability. Large cockpit, open cabin. Not suitable for extended cruising, limited headroom. Overall I'm glad I purchased the boat, and I love to sail it.

Pros:
Cons:

My Capri 30 has a custom keel and an inboard BMW diesel, so it sails a bit differently that the only other Capri 30 in the Portland OR area. This is a dry, fast boat that performs very well in winds from ghosting to about 25 knots or so. She points well, but responds best to being sailed "flat". The cockpit is very comfortable for four adults, and two adults can weekend on her about at the level that you could expect from well equipted campers. She rates at about 98 PHRF in this area, which means I don't race her, but I sure love to blow past the racing boats out practicing. Being mechanically simple, the maintenance is minimal. The toughest thing to do is keep the crud whashed off and the boat waxed. There is about 5' - 3" or so of headroom, the boat is definatly a "sitter". All in all, she is a fun boat that does exactly what I want. Daysailing, and weekending on the river.

Pros:
Cons:

Very light, beamy boat with lots of potential. Very fast in conditions under 10 kts. Comfortably sailed with 6-8 crew. Extremely challenging to race and also fun for just sailing around. Lots of cockpit to move around in and sleeps well too. Light weight makes it trailerable as well. All around good boat for club racing environment.

Pros: Responsiveness
Cons: Headroom

I took sailing lessons aboard one of these boats in 1980 fast responsive large open cockpit I wish all boats responded as quickly as the Capri 30 does. Lake Ontario has fickle winds at times and this boat was ideal for them. Goes well in winds from 2 knots to 30 knots. The only thing I have ever sailed that comes close is an Olsen 40. Limited facilities below but if you don't mind "roughing" it a little it is fine as a wednesday night round the cans boat for racing the only drawback is the rating.
