Excellent speed. Fully-battened sails with boomless rig. Uncluttered trampoline flush with hulls. Hogan rudders and daggerboards. Easy to set up. Weak spots... daggers tend to tear into bottom of hulls when small stones get caught in this area. We also removed the jib zipper and replaced with brass fasteners. Aircraft cabling was professionally sewn into this portion of the jib sail. Major weak spot is where the forestay wires are attached to each side of hull with chainplates. We replaced the 2 inch chainplates with six inch homemade chainplates. This will prevents the risk of ripping apart the entire top part of hull during heavy sailing. (this occurred when cat was only two years old). Overall satisfaction has been good. Parts are no longer manufactured for this product. ( Update June 1997.) During the first sail of the year we ran into a major electrical/wind storm. During this time, while running with very heavy wind and waves, 50% of the battens snapped or separated from the sandwich type material. These were replaced with battens of a newer type. We would suggest anyone looking at a used outfit to pull the battens out of the sails, flex them real good, and see if they stand up. You are looking at $250 for a complete set of good battens.
