Pros:
Cons:

Traditional sailing cruiser. Perfect for two, can sleep six!
She is very well built and will take care of you even in a
very strong gale. She has done it already! Every detail of
the design was studied and even if she is only
9.75 meters she atracts the looks in the marina of people who
realy know about boats. She is very strong. In the 1979
tragic Fastnet race she prooved to be the "best" boat as
confirmed by the commisson of enquiry. Her weak point is
that compared to the knew designs she lacks space but for a
real sailor she even has to much space. As mentioned she
will take two persons any place in the world and she is not
slow. I often cruise her single handed and she goes as a
beauty. I could buy a bigger boat but after 14 years she is
like new and any way if I change boat it will be for a new
Contessa 32 since I understand she is again back in
production!
I will not sale my Contessa 32 but I am ready to give any
information regarding my experience of 14 years with her.
Regards
Cesare

Cruiser/racer designed By David Sadler. Sloop rigged, 9.5' beam, 5.5' draft, 9600 lbs displacement, 4600 lbs encapsulated lead keel, skeg-mounted rudder. This boat is very small by modern standards (comparable in interior volume to a Catalina 28!), but it has beautiful lines, and is very stable. She is not very fast in light air (again, compare to a modern design) but is very well balanced and forgiving. It is a perfect cruising boat for a couple with one or two kids. At times we had as many as four adults and two kids stay overnight, but that is really tight. The interior is nicely finished (i.e., not reminiscent of a refrigerator!) Our boat is equipped with a raw water cooled 20 HP Bukh diesel. Over the past 14 years I've had no problems with it. There is a mail order parts distributor in New Jersey, and they are both knowledgeable and prompt. JJ Taylor is now out of business, but I believe the boat is back in production in England where there is a very active Contessa 32 class association and one-design racing.

Built by Jeremy Rogers. At age 65 I single-handed to Portugal and Brazil, returned to Florida after three years. Will be happy to discuss my great little boat and trip with interested parties.

Never say ... "Never".
I sold my Contessa 32 Narese.
I am still sorry but I became older and I lacked space.
After 21 years we parted company. A beautifull partnership.
I now have a new boat, a Bavaria 44 also named Narese.
I forgot my old password so I was unable to update my previous review. I had therefore to put this new notice.
I hope you will forgive me.
I am always ready privide info on any of the two boats.
You can find me in the members list under Narese.
Regards to all
Cesare
