This boat, CHANCE, was built by Industrial Manufacturing in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. I own # 6-119 (built in '69) but have also seen # 6-111 (built in '66). They were equiped originally with Atomic 4 engines, mine has been converted to a Yanmar 3 cyl diesel. Yawl is slow in light winds but comes to life with winds of 10-15 miles per hour. Originally Yawls had wheel steering and sloops had Tiller,
though my unit was originally equiped with Tiller and since has been converted. The Original design had the galley in the aft part of cabin with fold down table to port. My vessel has the galley to starboard, with quarter berth aft to starboard. The port side has a table with seating for four. Mid port head with hanging closet mid-ships to starboard. Roomy V-berth forward. 36 foot mast, and appx
20 foot mizzen mast. Keel on my boat is a full keel with the forefoot cutaway, but original boat had full keel uninterupted and extended from bow down to bottom of keel.
Boat is capable in heavy weather. The design appears to be almost identical in hull and cabin shape to the Alberg 30. The initial manufacturer that I list above, formed a Paceship division, with many other Paceship designs, and incorportated Paceship with the Acadian Yawl and Acadian 30. Later they sold out to AMF (I believe in Conn.) There are references to an Acadian II, which may be the later cutaway forefoot on the full keel model, but we have not learned as yet.

I am well satisfied with the Acadian Yawl 30, and pleased that it is so easy to singlehand, even in moderate winds.
