Any other Cooper 353 or Cooper 416 Owners ut there that wish to share information on these boats.
As a Marine Engineer /Mechanic by trade, I have learned a great deal about these boats and I am willing to share this knowledge with any other owners.

I'm about to purchase a cooper 416 and would love some opinions about this boat. What are some of its shortcomings? How well does it sail? Etc.
Thank you

Pros:
|
Roomy layout. Quality woodwork.
|
|
Cons:
|
Wagner (bankrupt in 1984) steering gear. Hull blisters.

I have the Perkins 4-108 (45 hp), the 4-154 (85 hp) would be better.
She sails very well, if a little slowly - 5 to 6 knots unless it is really blowing - when I have seen 8.5 knots. High freeboard and slow turn rate makes for challenging helm work in close quarters in high (over 10 knots) wind.
