Pros:
Cons:

A Ted Brewer designed fiberglass 32 footer, She is sloop rigged with a full, deep keel. She has an aft cockpit with pretty much standard deck layout. The boat is strongly built and is rugged, yet easy to handle. She seems at home quietly cruising inland waters or going offshore. Being more or less a traditional offshore yacht much of the comforts of more modern, wide beam boats are not there. The electronics, engine, transmission and ships systems all could use upgrading (the gear on my boat is all pretty much original), however the sailing gear is still going strong the only reason to upgrade the deck hardware would be purely cosmetic. Overall, the boat is bomb-proof, rugged, forgiving and easy to sail for a small crew or single handed.

Pros:
Cons:

Designed by Ted Brewer as a cruising boat. Comfortable, stable, extremely good in waves. Needs a cruising spinnaker in light winds but comes into its own when the breeze hits 10 knots. Blueprints are still available from Brewer. Over a period of eight years we completely overhauled ours, including regelcoating the hull, rebuilding the Volvo MD2B, adding roller/furling, replacing the boom and sales,... The Douglas is a go anywhere-do anything boat, which will always get you through. We have sailed it through gales with complete confidence that we had a boat that would not let us down.
