Pros:
Cons:

A great boat -- well built, very roomy, and an excellent sailor (though not at its best in light air).

Pros:
Cons:

I find the boat to be sturdy and comfortable with a 6'4'' headroom. Weighs about 9,400 lbs and is not a fast boat. . She is equipped with a 25h.p.volvo diesel which allows her to cope with difficult harbors. I sail her on Lake Champlain . Would like to hear from other owners.

Pros: No hull coring to rot. 6'4" headroom. Deep cockpit. Modern Look
Cons: Small galley, 13hp volvo(but still purrs)

The boat does not look 30 yrs old, as she is very European, designed by Michael Dufour. She gets lot of compliments in the Marina and under sail Also she is fast and seaworthy, not her best in very light air (downwind) but does very well once the apparent wind goes over about 5 or 6 knots. There were options, mine has 5'8" draft, wheel steering, but the original owner chose the 13HP over the 25HP Volvo. There is a nice article at www.yachtingmonthly.com. February 1999. I joined the Dufour Assoc in the UK and was told to look out for galvanisation of the rivets that hold the winch on the mast. I have not had a problem or someone before me took care of it.

Pros: fine entry allowed good upwind work in choppy seas, dry, well built, lots of wine storage if you are so inclined, large interior for older 31'
Cons: vee berth too small for two adults

I purchased my Dufour in San Francisco and sailed her up to Newport Bay (Yaquina River), Oregon where I kept her for 4 years. Very comfortable. Good galley, tons and tons of storage. Dry. My boat had no dodger and I did not get sprayed in the cockpit more than once or twice in 4 years of coastal cruising. Nothing cheap on the boat. There are faster boats down wind, but upwind she was dry and fast.

Pros: well built boat , all quality rigging
Cons:

We bought our DUFOUR 31 at Lake Mead near Las Vegas NV, After some

minor cleanup work and routine maintenance, the boat has been a joy

to sail and has lots of storage space, the Volvo 25hp diesel has had no

problems. I would recommend this model to anyone looking for a costal

cruising vessel.

Pros: Points well, sturdy, solid, fast
Cons:

The Dufour 31 is great for long-distance cruising or just sailing around the bouys. She has a comfortable well-designed, roomy cockpit. With minimal wood topsides to maintain, down below she is finished through-out in warm, richly grained Sapele wood with great stowage and ample headroom. Wheel-steering with skeg-hung rudder is offers quick response in all types of sea conditions. Too many features and positives to comment here!

Pros: Stiff, well built, good layouts topside and below
Cons: light air performance, short v-berth, tight head

Purchased in Maine 2008, installed new 10hp diesel. Very adapted to short cruising in rougher water. Lots of storage. Handles (turns, stops, starts, backs down) better than most. Not a traditional looking boat, but classy in a European style.
