Pros:
Cons:

The ericson 34 is my idea of a perfect boat for a sailor and wife interested in "fast" cruising. We have sailed her
primarily on the Great Lakes in winds to 50knots without a concern. She is very easy to handle with all halyards and
reef lines led aft. We do a couple of club races each year and usually manage a flag or two. My only gripe would be with the Universal M-25 (3 cylinder) engine and the three point motor mounts have more vibration than I am used to. Would recommend very careful engine alignment and a shaft isolator along with constant checking.

Pros: A lot of sailboat in 34+feet!!!
Cons: Change 2blade prop to 3blade prop for serious cruising

I own a 1989 Ericson 34-200 and its a great sailboat for my cruising grounds(San Juan Islands of Washington and Gulf Islands of BC Canada)....simply a strong, spacious,well-designed sailboat that is a joy to sail! Drop me line on any questions(bamatally@gmail.com)

Pros: Great layout for cruising
Cons: 5' draft is a bit shalow to my taste

After reviewing a lot of bad pre-owned sailboats, I was really happy to find a 1987 Ericson in quite good shape for a price I could afford. Only weak points: Only two sails & 5' draft... I'll have to add $2 000 for used sails, plus another $5 000 for an offshore liferaft & a windvane (I would have like an Hydrovane but too expensive, I settled for a South Atlantic).
