Very thick hull, Ketch, simple design, very comfortable. Does not point well, sails great on a beam reach and downwind. Very well satisfied.

Full keel , Ketch rigged , Cruising boat. Heavy displacement comfortable motion at sea. High freeboard produces much windage and poor close quarter handeling. Small engine somewhat under powered. Very comfortable overall. Sails well for type and size.Does not like to point but loves to reach.

I've had Drifter since '81 and sailed her from BC to Annapolis and singlehanded from BC to Tahiti (and back). Great trade wind boat, very sea kindly motion but dosn't point worth a damn. Heaves to easily, and also in one bad storm ran before wind under bare polls for 8 hours.
The Formosa 35 (or 36, depends on which year built) is nicely balanced so windvane works well.
After 23 years teak is in need of replacement, new 2nd engine (Perkins), new mizzon mast (dry rot in original).
Original electrical and plumbing poor, chainplates use poor quality stainless bolts and have been leaking rust for awhile.
However hull is an inch thick and shows no blistering, she's been aground on occasion and shrugged it off, I hope to keep her another 19 years.
