In the fall I will be stripping the bottom and fairing etc. I am refinishing the woodwork also. I have just replaced the standing rigging, windows, winches, and some of the Thuhulls. I plan on going to a bigger boat within 12- 18 months but the georgian has been such a good boat to sail that want to keep her up.

Hi bcleveland,

This is Silverbell, I sold my boat a few years ago to a good olde salt in St. Catharines and now I am in the process of buying another boat. With all types that are available on the used market I can have my choice of almost anything I want. Yep you guessed it; I am buying another 23 Georgian. You know they are great boats and you just might want to reconsider selling her. Good Luck & good sailing.

Hello

Been busy getting the boat ready for the season and now it is sailing the Annapolis Basin. Plan on taking a trip accros the Bay of Fundy which is a 38 mile trip, ussually not calm waters and most days foggy, then up the Saint John River. A trip that most sailers should try to do once.

I am the youngest son of the builder of the Georgian 23. I was involved with the building of all G23's completed in the boat yard. I read that some boats have "particle board" as bulkheads etc.. Those were NOT built by us!!!!! I am sorry that you were sold a "bill of goods".

For those of you who say that the boat does not sail well in light winds, buy a 150% genoa, you will be amazed at the difference. Light winds and the stock 100% jib is like trying to drive an F1 race with a 4 cylinder engine.

I am VERY pleased to know that the boats are still being sailed. I live on Vancouver Island, BC and I know of 2 in my general area. I wish I had a G23 of my own to cruise this coast.

As a matter of interest, my father passed away April, 2008 3 weeks prior to his 88th birthday. He was always an active racer and won many international regattas as skipper and as crew.

The georgian has been a good boat, always gets questions asked of me when people see it. I am about to board it and ride out Hurricane Bill which is passing by. I am sure it will be just another day for the boat. Mine is hull # 34 according to the old sail I found with it

Hi! Earlier a Georgian 23 #56 named Whiskeyjack was mentioned. Since April '08 my wife and I have been privileged to be the proud owners of Whiskeyjack. We sail out of Port Dover and our boat has kept Ed at Bridge both amused and enriched. Ask him about the raccoon at the top of the mast some time.

Would love to get together or in contact with other Georgian owners. We have a copy of the original sales brochure and would love to trade and acquire more information or literature. This boat is truly a gem!

I am currently looking at a Georgian 23 and wanted to know how I can tell whether or not this boat was completed by your Dad's company or whether it was sold partially finished. I want to be sure I am getting an original without short cuts. Many thanks, Michelle 67

I bought my G23 in 1997 and displays sail 54. She an excellant boat capable of handling big water as well light winds. Perfect for the beginner to learn.
I do occasionally race her and she preform very close to her PHRF 285. I have won a few and lost more but always finishing close well minus my sailing error that always get in the way.
I do have a copy of the original sales flyer for the g23.

My Georgian has been spending the winters on a wooden cradle that came with the boat. After 15 years it is time to replace the cradle with one constructed of steel. I am looking for the dimensions of an insisting cradle. If anyone is able to help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I owned a Georgian 23 (named Jenta) for about 15 yrs and sailed it out of Wiarton (where I lived at the time) and it was a great boat! It was our first sailboat and we learned on it and it fogave our many mistakes, never let us down. In light airs it was a dog until I purchased a 160 DRS off a Niagra 26 from George Hinterholter. This made a world of diggerance although you are still not going to beat many other sail boats LOL we spent about 14 summers in the north channel on it and had a great time, I can recommend this boat to anyone! If any one wishes to contact me and ask more, pls do so

Hi Pete - I'm really glad that I came across your post. We're talking to the current owner now (through a broker) about Jenta. It's great to know some of her history.
