32' Golden Hind ----- Need Input!!!!! ----- we have aquired a Golden Hind
from our son , It is in need of some work. We dont really know much about them. We are pulling it out next week. to look at the bottom . and see what all she is going to need. We have always been push button cruzers. (trawler)
I would like to know anything to look for . as my husband will be working and i will be doing all the sanding and bottom work. We live aboard a 62 converted shrimpboat and now he ahas decied it wont go everywhen he wants to in the the future. We live on Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana. and not too many Golden Hinds here.. it has a Lister diesel . And if shes good to go after
repair "Would you sail it to the islands " ??????
The rutter is rotten and will have to be replaced .

Designed by Maurice Griffiths. Originally built of wood, but started building fiberglass (GRP) hulls in the early to mid 70's.
Very well-built, classic design. Medium to heavy displacement. Beautiful mahogony and plywood topsides. Sturdy teak sole. Some ugly laminates - a victim of the 70's. Plenty of teak trim to keep one busy.
Interesting keel design: Full, center, ballasted, main keel with two additional "bilge keels" or "bilge fins". Bilge keels are steel, removable. Apparently intended to improve tracking and reduce rolling in following seas.
