Excellent one hand boat.Very forgiving and suprisingly fast for her beam. Very roomy for a 22, beam of nearly 8 feet. I love this boat.

Pros:
Cons:

A real "bulldog" of a boat. Built strong and easy to launch and retrieve. A little cramped for extended cruising with three but two will do best.
Outstanding (and fun) in SF Bay for such a small boat. Does very well in light winds here on AZ lakes. The 7.5 Honda kicker is good for 10-12 knots !
Use gin pole to raise the mast, it's heavy.
In addition, preserve the front plexiglass opening hatch !! They're almost impossible to replace.

Pros:
Cons:

Definitely a keeper and under rated. Champagne boat of the 22 footers. Easy to trailer, setup and sail. Great instructional boat for kids or first time sailors. Cramped but workable with 4 in cockpit. Perfect for two on moonlight sails and for those times when you just have to single hand her. Prior boat was Erickson 36 on SF Bay. Bought the 22 as I moved inland to sail the lakes in Nor Cal. Moving up to a Hunter 26.5 for family weekending but going to keep the Balboa for the when the eldest daughter is ready to do it alone. Can't say more than that about the boat.
