Pros:
Cons:

The Mistral is an older Swedish built boat, designed by Olle Enderlein. It has a heavy fiberglass hull and Divinycell cored fiberglass deck. The cabin doghouse is mahogany, and the roof is covered by fiberglass. It is a pretty, classic sloop (photos and specs can be found at our HR owners' registry at www.fultoncomputer.com/classic/classic.htm).

The boat is heavy at 12,750 pounds displacement, but carries 570 square feet of sail. It seems to sail very well on all points of sail including very light wind. Our yacht club gave us a PHRF rating of 159.

Since the boat has so much wood, a prospective buyer should inspect the boat carefully for rot, especially at the aft end of the cockpit where the drainage isn't very good. Also carefully inspect the base of the two wooden compression posts for any signs of rot.

Although only 216 of these boats were built by the Hallberg yard in Sweden, many are still afloat and several have circumnavigated.

Overall, my wife and I are extremely happy with this boat. We plan to keep it for quite a while, and perhaps go cruising with it one day.

Pros: sailing qualities and excellent construction
Cons: see below

I have Mistral 76 built in 1971. I am now restoring the cockpit coaming. I have built a fibreglass mold for the aft section which will be used for laying up a new laminated aft section. On completion, I will offer the mold for sale to other owners with this problem, Any one interested please contact p995500@aol.com.
