Written on 4/98. A very solid, stable boat. Has same hull as 38MKII. Will do 5 knots in 6 knots off the wind which surprised us. The 30hp yanmar is adequate but more would be better in a bad sea. Some have 50-60hp. Hull is very thick. We do not have blisters. Teak decks do not have bedding compound in the screws that hold the deck down, so water may get in. We are bedding and recaulking them. This is our first year with boat and assumed slight problems to repair. Everything works. Aft berth is quite comfortable. Tons of storage space. Things to look for before survey-leaks around portlights, compression post base may be badly rusted, chase deck leaks. We looked at several and most were very good. Some people have reported blisters, so check carefully during survey. We had a wooden boat prior to this and this has a wood feel without as much work. I love how strong it feels. The PH model has 3 layouts, ours being standard. Great visibility on cold days. The convertible layout has the best nav station, but is okay on others. If more info is needed, e-mail us.
