Trailerable performance catamaran; double-trapeze, stable and powerful. Lots of sail area, full-battened main; a bit complex interms of rigging and sailing for a beginner; very wet ride in high winds. Best sailed with 2 people but can hold 3 or 4. Excellent formal & informal network of other
owners; lots of fleets around; high resale value. You get a lot of boat for the money. This boat is much less prone to pitchpoling than the Hobie 16 and I consider the 18 a much safer boat. The Hobie Miracle 20 is a better choice in terms of performance but costs 3 to 5 times as much.
