Pros:
Cons:

We just bought this boat and are interested in corresponding with other owners. So far we really like the deck salon, the midships double, and the walk-thru transom. Would like a cutter rig if the conversion is easy. Also would like to install a divider in the anchor locker. Has anyone done a shoal keeel conversion on this boat?

We rectntly acuqired "Camelot" here in Seattle and are looking forward to cruising PNW waters for years to come. Documents onboard regarding the boat and her equipment are few, so am interested in contacting anyone with knowledge of Islander 38s.

Sloop rig with excellent layout. My wife and I enjoy the spacious salon, queen pullman and built in drop down transom. Large ports provide excellent light and the boat is well ventilated. It is easy to handle and comfortable for guests.
Weaknesses include some leaking that had to be attended to and a rather small galley (but very functional), have not converted main halyard to run to cockpit, but would consider if going offshore.
Would like to talk to someone about mast that carries water to sole, which has wicked up water and the area needs repair.
We love the boat. It is sturdy, roomy and fun to sail.
