Pros: well balanced, very easily sailed by one or two people and fast
Cons: volvo diesel model 2003 hard to get parts and are they ever expensive

I believe that my J34C was the last built, hull # 32. The boat sails spectacular in winds over 10 knots, I clubrace every week in a very competitive non-spinnaker fleet. I have the UFO 4'10" keel. TPI also built a version with a deep 6'6" draft, but only a few. We cruise the boat for three weeks during the summer, very comfortable for two people, smallish galley but functional. Up forward the V berth is huge with two opening hatches, great ventilation. Ordinary size head with shower for a 34 footer. Two 40 gallon freshwater tanks and 24 gallon diesel tank. J34C's all came with the Volvo 2003 28 hp diesel, spare parts are not easy to come by and very expensive. The diesels are easy to maintain(accessabilty) and run quite smooth, at 2500 rpms the boat will move close to 7 knots in flat water.

J34C's have a very easy sail plan to handle, roller furler genoa and fully battented mainsail with lazy jacks, boat is very responsive to sail trim, helmsman can reach the travellar and winches without leaving the helm.

This boat is very well designed and built if sailing is your priority, at sixteen years old we have no stress cracks, non skid still looks like new and all deck
gear has held up great, the only piece of teak are the hand rails and we keep them covered with sunbrella which keep them looking new.

This is a very well balanced mid thirties sailboat that one or two people can handle with ease.

S/V Lithium J34C
Hull Number 32

Pros: Great boat. Fast. Good factory support for an 18 year old boat
Cons: Some parts hard to find and expensive (portals mainly)

I bought this boat (Hull #35) in December of 2006, and re-commissioned it in June of 2007. This is the easiest handling boat I have ever owned (7th sailboat in 25 years), including a previous J boat (J/37). It is the UFO keel version boat with a 4'10" draft (I think it is really 5'2" but the specs say less) but it goes to wind like most fin keel boats. All the hardware is first rate and is sized to go to blue water. I have raced this boat single handed and it is very fast compared to other boats on my lake (Kentucky Lake). PHRF rating is 114-128. I am rated at 117. Interior accomodations are good for a couple with an occasional guest if you are not a 6' plus person. The head is a little small, but serviceable. The main cabin is sized well for a 34' boat, and has setees wide enough and long enough to lay down and stretch out. I added lighting as the cabin was too dark for my taste, and also replace the sole as it was wore out from previous owner's use. Sail handling is superb with Harken roller furling, and all controls within the reach of the helmsman. I also added Garhauer line control genoa cars. The only issue with end-boom sheeting is it make the Bimini a bit small, but then the dodger makes up for that. I am not that wild about Volvo diesels, but this 2003 (28hp) is very reliable and has always performed well. It has the 2 bladed Martec; experience is they induce some vibration this one being no exception. If I were to go down the TennTom waterway, I would have to change to a Max-prop or equal. Gelcoat was in poor shape from oxidation, but the quality of the gel coat allowed wet sanding and buffing to bring the condition back up to very good. I would recommend to anyone wanting a mid size cruiser a J/34c, and anyone wanting to discuss, please feel free to contact me through PM here at sailnet.

Jboat J/37c (new to me Jan 2011); J/22 #1003

Pros: Great Performance and Accomodations

We have a J34C Entering our charter fleet in Fort Myers Beach and the Florida Keys. 360yachting.com

Also had to make a rudder mold for this boat because of an incompetent skipper breaking the rudder on delivery from Newport. As far as I know we are the only people with a mold if anyone needs a new rudder and post.
