Catamaran crew Texas to Florida
Views Date Posted

Position Description: 69 year old male captain, multihull experience, recently bought 36' Solaris Sunstar catamaran. Boat is currently in Rockport, Tx, area, having survey findings dealt with. Boat is in good condition, details available on application to prospective crew.

This is a nonpaying position. Expenses will be paid, probably including transportation unless you want a round trip ticket from some distant place. Shoreside expenses (restaurant and bars, etc.) are yours.

Well, a landfall celebration in Florida might be on me.

I hope to sail straight across the gulf to Florida, but that depends on the weather. Part of the trip may be on the ICW for that reason. I do not want to sail coastwise along Texas, Louisiana, etc. due to the oil rigs and traffic.

You will need to have some sailing experience, be healthy, intelligent, personable, and willing to follow instructions. No smoking, drugs, or intoxication. We be grownups here. If you want a drink the rule is to behave sensibly.

If you like to cook, that's a plus. The cook doesn't wash dishes, so I will.

Comfortable cabin for a single or a couple. Couples are welcome. This is a great opportunity for people interested in multihulls to gain some practical experience. I'm happy to share what I know, from hard earned knowledge to amusing lies lol.

Departure will be in 2-3 weeks (hopefully) from either Port Aransas or Galveston. Destination is the west coast of Florida. If that sounds vague, it's because I intend to use the weather to have a safe and pleasant trip to the west coast of Florida.

My final destination is Daytona, so my priority is a quick and uneventful trip to Florida, then a relatively leisurely trip down the coast to the keys and up to Daytona.

Crew are needed from Texas to the west coast of Florida, but might be extended to the keys or up the east coast. The trip could take anywhere from 6 days to three weeks, depending on weather and route.

I intend to make the point of disembarkation as convenient for the crew as possible. Going for just part of the trip might be possible if there are no suitable crew available for the entire trip.

Interested parties please respond by pm only.

Thank you.
