I agree with both Sony and Faster. I hate silicone on a boat, but bedding the hatch lens is a good place for it, as long as you use the right silicone. The DC 795 which Faster mentions is not your ordinary hardware or marine store silicone. It has very high elasticity is very durable. It does have the same problem all silicones have in that nothing will bond to it ever, but I've had very good luck with it for hatch lenses. It definitely has a shelf life, though, even an unopened tube, and it's not all that long.
