I get to see the aftermath of a couple of these big ship collisions a year as just south of my marina is a shipyard where they do work. The last few weeks there has been a freighter that got hit on the starboard aft side right by the bridge somewhere in the Caribbean.
Before that one was another freighter that was hit by a cruise ship in the Pacific near China. I've got some pics somewhere. Big boats colliding leaves a mess.
