Careful you don’t break your boom, you already went to mid boom sheeting instead of the end of boom sheeting the boom was designed for. I am making a new boom this winter to avoid the problem because I also went to mid boom sheeting.

If the vang is at a 45 deg to the boom you get the same downward component as the compression component in the boom. Moving the attachment point aft adds to the compression in the boom (and the strain in the vang) and doesn’t add anything to the downward component so no advantage I can think of to moving the vang aft on the boom past the 45 deg point.
