Have you ever noticed that in any gaggle of Canada geese there is ALWAYS one standing watch while the others have their heads down in the grass? I've long wondered how they schedule their turns with that.
Their formation flying is interesting too - the lead bird in the V creates a "draft" that makes it easier on the others, just like NASCAR. When the lead bird gets tired he drops to the back of the V and the next one in front takes over the lead.
