Re: New in Narragansett Bay

sailed out Plymouth,MA ( America's home Town) for close to 30 yrs. Pleasure is channel very well marked and you can SAIL out ( don't need to power once past the breakwater). Respect Bug light ( rocks behind it) Stay to port side on channel from there ( Brown's Bank on the right). Wait until you get to the last red before turning to starboard to miss any shoals. Watch out for Marianne's rocks about 1/2 way down to canal. Keep them far to starboard. Get standing waves right by Mass Maritime and just past on occasion but only briefly so don't get scared. Easy place to pull in is Marion ( kept my boat there last two years) and when timing the canal a reasonable day's sail from Plymouth on a boat your size. Don't tow your dinghy if you can. You will lose about a kt. making for a much longer trip. Think about getting a personal beacon which will be helpful later on or an EPRIB. Have good foulies and combo pdf/harness. You'll be fine. This year will be in Barrington. So maybe we will see each other. Welcome to sailnet. Reachout by PM if any questions
