I agree. You asked what else people do. Water is expensive to buy.
A watermaker requires requires quite a bit of electrical power. You will need to add a higher output alternator and add extra batteries. Solar and wind power may useful as well. Fortunately the advances in watermaker efficiency have been quite good over the patst decade. But they do break down. I had one fail in 2010, fortunately we were only 5 days from our destination, the tanks (80 gallons) were full and we had an emergency supply (5 gallons). We just gave up on the showers.
I agree. The irwin has a wind generator and 80 gallons of water. Leaning that way now. I think I may need a hitch hiker and more room and water woud be nice.
