I'm assuming that is mold from the description. Are these twisted wire shrouds or straight metal bars? Shrouds are usually wire and I can't imagine how you would get the flitz back out of all the grooves.

The Spotless Stainless product mentioned above is good for removing light corrosion on stainless steal. However, if your standing rigging has corrosion, cleaning it off isn't really the fix.
