... and you'll avoid the chafe on the main leech w/o a topping lift.. however it can be problematic when reefing if there's no way to support the boom when the sail is dropping. That's why you need to spend half a boat buck on a rigid/supporting vang! (you'll have to find a wooden one to match, though )

Congrats on getting her out. Success story for sure.
