After spending quite a bit of time with Bernard Moitessier in the SoPac in the 70's, I'm not so sure he was that crazy, just French!
He, like many of us who sail today, did not have much affection for modern society or it's rules. But he was one hell of a sailor and Joshua was a no nonsense, go anywhere boat, if lacking many of the creature comforts many of us, myself included, like to have on our cruising boats today.
