Re: Does it cost anything to port in Nova Scotia or Newfoundland?

I cannot quote direct experience... Funny how few Maritimers and Newfies must be on this site... I did listen to a presentation of a couple traveling down the St. Lawrence as far as northern New Brunswick. Once outside the large centres (Halifax, for example) you will find that the (many) small ports are working fishing ports and you may well be one of only a few "pleasure" boats, perhaps the only one. They found that, the more "working" and/or "remote" their port of call, the lower the fees and the more helpful the harbour manager seemed to become (novelty factor?). I believe they had a CS 30 and paid as little as $10.00 a night. I did google a marina at Mahone Bay (probably the most popular area for local seasonal sailors in Nova Scotia) which shows a day rate of $2.00 per foot (Gold River Marina).

Good luck.
